Serenity in the Storm

This is one of my favorite images as well as my preferred photography locations.

This image was taken at Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. There was a hurricane off the coast, and we heard that there were fifty miles an hour winds on the other side of the dunes.  As we were walking through the park, we decided to venture to the other side of the dune to see if it was windy.

It was indeed windy. I took a few pictures of the sand as it was blasting me and my equipment. The ocean had some large waves, but the scene was not really anything that grabbed my attention.  It was a little frightening, so I turned around and there it was a dark gray sky with billowing clouds, swaying sea-grass and a blanket of shifting sand. We found “Serenity in the Storm.”
